- August 24, 2008 : Windows labs upgraded (merantn)
All CS windows labs have been upgraded. The C014 lab now contains 24 core 2 duo 3.0GHz PCs with 2gb RAM and nVidia 8600GT GPUs. C109 & B118 lab PCs contain 2.4GHz core 2 duo CPUs with 1gb RAM. All PCs include a DVD±RW drive and flash card readers.
ISO CD/DVD images for popular UNIX operating systems can be found on the D:\ drive of the C014 windows PCs.
The freeware software collection has been updated to reflect lab changes. - August 24, 2008 : C012 Gentoo Linux Lab imaged (hasselg)
The Kunsela C012 Gentoo Linux Lab has been updated with a new image. Included are a number of software updates and additions. For a complete list, visit http://www.cs.sunyit.edu/labs/c012/software.php.
- August 22, 2008 : /opt/pub/ filesystem upgraded (merantn)
The large public filesystem for temporary data storage has been upgraded from 750gb to 1.5tb. This filesystem is mounted as /opt/pub/ under the unix OS or T:\ on Windows. See the #README.1st.txt file for usage information.
- August 20, 2008 : New Scanners & Blu-ray stations (merantn)
New Canon flatbed photo/document scanners have been installed in the Kunsela C109 & B118 labs. The scanner station in the B118 lab also includes a Blu-ray writer.
- March 26, 2008 : MySQL Server Upgraded (gasparn)
The MySQL Server has been upgraded to Version 5.1.23.

After a long wait, the C012 lab has finally received a new install image! The old image was from the beginning of the Fall 2007 semester, and although it served us relatively well, much of the software and libraries had fallen out of date.
The new install features many updated packages, including newer versions of software like Mozilla FireFox, OpenOffice, Opera, etc. It also brings with it the replacement of the popular instant messenger client Gaim. The replacement is the also popular Pidgin! For legal reasons, the open source Gaim project was forced to rename their project and the name they selected was Pidgin. The majority of the functionality remains the same and in many cases is increased! - March 3, 2008 : Windows labs updated (merantn)
Our Windows lab PCs have been updated to reflect several software updates and problem fixes. The freeware software collection has also been updated.
- February 29, 2008 : 24hr Linux Lab Machines Upgraded (hasselg)
On Wednesday, the Gentoo Linux machines located in the 24hr lab (Kunsela B118) received some major improvements! They were upgraded from Dell GX260's (2GHz P4, 512MB RAM, DVD-R) to Dell GX280's (3.4GHz P4, 1GB RAM, DVD-RW). They also received a new install image featuring lots more software and many updated titles. When you logon to one of these machines, you should now have an experience which is much more similar to if you logged on to one of their counterparts located in Kunsela C012.

Our collection of ISO images can be found on unix machines under /opt/pub/OperatingSystems, windows machines under T:\OperatingSystems\ or in D:\ISO-Images\ on PCs in the C014 lab. Fastest burn times will be found by burning from the D: drive in C014. - November 1, 2007 : Operating systems mirrored in C014 Windows lab (merantn)
Our collection of UNIX/Linux operating systems are now mirrored on each C014 lab PCs in order to provide faster burning. Take a look under D:\ISO-Images\.
- November 1, 2007 : Adobe CS3 Web Suite added (merantn)
The CS department now has the Adobe CS3 Web Premium Suite installed in all of its Windows Labs. Applications included with this suite include Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Acrobat Pro, & Contribute.
