Henry Wu, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, Computer Science

Currently, Henry Wu is an assistant professor in the Computer Science department at State University of New York Institute of Technology. He had taught ECEN5553 (Telecom System I), a core graduate course for MSTM program at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma. His other academic experience includes the tenure track faculty position in the Computer Information System department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, California. His most recent industrial experience include: Long Range Architect for both Optical Transport & Switching side and Data Switching side for Network Planning, Williams Communication Group. His major responsibility include: interfacing with Network Architecture and Cross Functional Teams for integration of new equipment into network. Area of responsibility includes producing technical documents and providing training to Regional Planning Engineers. Responsible for interfacing with different vendors for technical requirements and help set direction and priority in testing/approving equipment. Other responsibilities include network technology research, current network optimization, and new equipment evaluation. He had over 12 years of working experience in the Telecom Industry on both the carrier side and vender side (both hardware design and software programming). His major fields include: Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering and Computer Science. He wishes to share both his knowledge and long term industrial experience with the students and help them be better prepared in today's increasing competitive job market.
His research interests including: Video and multimedia networking, Network communication protocols, such as MPLS, ATM, FR, IP; Network communication technologies, such DWDM, SONET, VPN; Computer network communication hardware architecture and associated software; Artificial Intelligence, and Fuzzy Logic application.
Dr. Wu is a senior member of IEEE and he had been an elected executive officer for IEEE Foothill section.
